Medical Care

Whether your pet has been scratching at his ears, has been stung by a bee, has eye discharge, is limping, has stomach upset, or just isn’t acting right, we are here for you and your pet. Sick pets are treated with the same loving, thorough care as pets visiting our clinic for preventive care. At Gladstone Veterinary Clinic, our goal is to partner with you to help your best friend live a longer, healthier, happier life.

Common Symptoms Associated with Health Problems

Common symptoms that may indicate a health problem with your pet include:

  • change in appetite or weight
  • change in attitude or responsiveness, or interacting less often with family
  • change in sleeping patterns
  • change in urination (amount or frequency)
  • change in water consumption
  • confusion or disorientation
  • diarrhea and/or vomiting
  • lumps or bumps on or under the skin
  • coughing and/or sneezing
  • eye discharge or squinting
  • stiffness or trouble jumping, walking, or climbing stairs
  • itchy skin, “hot spots”, hair loss, greasy coat
  • head-shaking, scratching at ears, foul odor in ears
  • just not acting like himself/herself

Outpatient Care

You know your pet better than anyone else, and your input is so important because our patients can’t talk to us, tell us exactly where it hurts, give us a pain score on a scale of 1 to 10, or let us know that they ate barbeque the before they started vomiting. A comprehensive health evaluation can uncover underlying causes for your pet’s discomfort, and help us treat small health problems before they become bigger problems. This evaluation will not only address your primary concern, but also include a thorough physical exam, nutritional and weight assessment, discussion of any behavior issues, and a dental evaluation.

Diagnostic Testing may be necessary in order to further evaluate your pet. Just as our physical exam is one of the tools used to evaluate your pet’s health, blood and urine testing provide an exam of your pet’s internal organs and can help uncover underlying medical problems that may not be obvious from the physical exam. Cytology, blood pressure, radiographs, and ultrasound are other diagnostic tools we use to help diagnose our patient.

Hospitalization

Whether your pet needs to be monitored for observation or needs more intensive care, we provide the highest quality medical care with a dedicated medical team and state of the art monitoring equipment. If overnight care is necessary, we will assist you in coordinating transfer to an overnight care facility.
